Slow and quick motion with the Sony FS5

by | Jan 22, 2018 | Feature, SonyFS5

The FS5 has many cool features. One of them is the S&Q function.

1. go to MENU > SYSTEM > S&Q BUTTON SETTING and choose S&Q/SUPER SLOW, this makes the S&Q button able to have two settings.

2. got to MENU > CAMERA/PAINT > SLOW & QUICK > SUPER SLOW MOTION > FRAME RATE and choose the desired framerate (in my case/PAL 100, 200, 400 or 800 fps. NTSC users will have 120, 240, 480 and 960 fps.

Now you are ready to use the S&Q by the click of a button. If you hold down the S&Q button, you will be able to change the framerate. Please do also watch Alisters presentation in the video below. S&Q starts at 7:09.

Press once on the S&Q button > Slow and Quick Motion (S&Q Motion) used to be called Undercranking means you can shoot at frame rates from 1 frame per second to 60 frames per second. This allows you to speed up or slow down motion for time-lapse or slow motion effects.

Press twice on the S&Q button > Super Slow Motion
used to be called overcranking and allows you to slow down the action even further as you can shoot all the way up to 960 fps (frames per second).
